Merge Kingdom Best Layout Guide: Optimize Your Board Early
The Golden Rule of Merging
Never let your board fill up. Free space is your most valuable resource. A full board stops spawners and halts progress.

Ideal Early Layout
Divide your board into three zones:
- Spawner zone (top-left): keep all generators clustered.
- Merge zone (center): open space for combining items.
- Storage zone (bottom): hold finished items you're saving for quests.
Merge Chain Strategy
Always merge three at a time when possible instead of two β triple merges yield a bonus item and save space.
- Collect five identical items.
- Merge three into the next tier.
- Keep the remaining two to pair with future spawns.
Managing Spawners
- Tap spawners only when you have room to merge the output.
- Let energy regenerate rather than force-tapping.
- Sell duplicate low-tier items you no longer need.
Leave a Regeneration Lane
Do not pack every zone tightly. Keep at least one short row or column open as a regeneration lane. This gives new spawns somewhere to land, makes it easier to compare matching pieces, and reduces the chance that you accidentally sell a useful chain item just to create space.
Quick board reset
- Move items needed for active quests into the storage zone.
- Sell duplicate low-tier pieces that are not part of your next merge.
- Combine matching leftovers before tapping another spawner.
- Stop reorganizing once you have at least five open cells.
If a spawner cannot produce because the board is crowded, fixing layout comes before collecting more items.
Event Prep
Before an event starts, clear your board. Store high-tier items and free up merge space so you can chain-merge event items quickly for top rewards.
Summary
- Free space wins games.
- Triple-merge whenever possible.
- Zone your board: spawn, merge, store.
